KAHPERD Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope For Heart promotes the value of physical activity to elementary school children while showing them they can contribute to their community's welfare.  This is a time when children can establish the foundation for movement skills.  These are also the years when positive learning experiences can help establish a positive attitude and appreciation for participating in regular, daily physical activity for life. By jumping rope and securing sponsors, students raise money for the fight against heart disease and stroke, all while learning about the seriousness of heart disease and stroke, the lifelong benefits of physical activity and the importance of living a heart-healthy lifestyle.

Hello AHA SVPs, State AHPERD Executive Directors, and State AHPERD Coordinators,

It’s hard to believe that the deadline for the Jump Rope For Heart and Hoops For Heart Grant and Recognition Awards is just a little more than a month away!

These grants and awards are terrific opportunities for event coordinators to showcase their passion for the JRFH and HFH programs. Recipients are awarded funds to support their school’s PE program and their individual professional development. There are so many coordinators who deserve the opportunity to be nationally recognized for their support of the Jump and Hoops programs.

Please help make sure that all coordinators who qualify have the opportunity to apply for these grants and awards by posting an announcement in your newsletters, on your websites or social media sites, or by sending an email blast.

All applications are due on October 15, 2011. Please reference the following links in your communications:
