Award Eligibility: 

An active member of KAHPERD (membership remains active throughout the award process - initial enrollment date is prior to nomination and continues for the year as an award recipient)

A minimum of five years of leadership experience in the field of recreation

Award Criteria: 

Criteria #1:  Demonstrates exemplary leadership qualities in several areas relating to the discipline of recreation

1. mentoring others
2. fundraising
3. facility development
4. planning and implementation of special events and other recreational programming opportunities
5. promoting diversity and opportunities for all through recreational activities

Criteria #2: Advocates for the profession through presentations and/or publications

Criteria #3:  Demonstrates exemplary leadership in service (as a volunteer or member of a professional board)

1. within the college/university/school environment
2. within the local community

Criteria #4:  Assumes a leadership role in promoting healthy, active Kansans through recreational opportunities

Award Recipient Requirements: 

Award recipients will be responsible for presenting at the following year’s KAHPERD conference and submitting an article for the KAHPERD journal/newsletter.
